DAVE PRESTON NAMED NEW HEAD COACH OF MEN’S VOLLEYROOS PROGRAM

Volleyball Australia announced on Tuesday that Dave Preston has been appointed as Head Coach of the Men’s Volleyroos.

The Canadian native has more than 12 years international coaching experience at all levels with Team Canada. 

 During his tenure with Team Canada, Preston coached the team at two World Championships, one World Cup, four FIVB World Leagues and one Junior World Championships.

Coaching in collegiate volleyball for close to three decades, Preston was 7 times named Conference Coach of the Year and 3 time National Coach of the year.  

Volleyball Australia National Performance Director, Craig Marshall said: “We are very pleased to welcome Dave to our Volleyball Australia high performance team. 

“Dave has an excellent understanding of the international game and its technical, physical and tactical requirements.

“Combined with his expertise in building high performance programs and player development, Dave will be an important addition for Volleyball Australia to reinvigorate the Volleyroos program as we embark on a 10 year project towards the 2032 home Olympic Games.

“Dave will commence in the role in May to prepare for the international season including the upcoming Volleyball Nations League (VNL) campaign,” he said.

• Coach with Team Canada programs – including 2 World Championships, 1 World Cup, and 4 FIVB World Leagues, 2 FISU games and 1 Junior World Championship. 

• Collegiate Volleyball [1993 – 2022]. Career record of 432-108 (.800); 7 time Conference Coach of the Year; 3 time National Coach of the Year; 10 conference titles in the last 14 years; 6 straight national medals. 

• Head Coach, McMaster University Men’s Volleyball, winning10 championships overall including 6 consecutive (2012-2018) and 6 National Championship medals during the same period.
