DOMINANT RUSSIA WIN THIRD GOLD AT U18 WORLDS

Italy and the United States complete the podium in Durango

Russia ended a 28-year drought to secure their third FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship title on Wednesday, as the European team topped the podium at the 2021 edition of the tournament in Durango, Mexico.

Two-time winners Italy and 2019 winners the United States completed the podium at the FENADU stadium, taking the silver and bronze medals respectively.

Russia vs Italy

The Russians maintained their excellent form in the gold medal match and completely dominated Italy in the first two sets to secure their sixth straight-set victory in seven matches and take the title.

USA vs Serbia

The Americans returned to the podium for a second-straight edition of the tournament as the 2019 winners handled Serbia and got a four-set victory in the bronze medal match.

Brazil vs Romania

Three-time winners Brazil finished fifth after the South Americans took care of Romania in three sets to win their final match in the tournament.

Turkey vs Poland

The all-European derby for the seventh-place went Turkey’s way as the team outclassed Poland in three sets to take the win.
