Prestigious competition launches logos and other brand identity elements
Lausanne, Switzerland, December 14, 2020 – The official logos for the men’s and women’s editions of the FIVB Volleyball World Championships 2022 have been unveiled alongside several other elements of the brand identity.
The gender-neutral logos are inspired by the jump of a volleyball athlete, elevating together to reach the ultimate objective: winning the prestigious and challenging World Championship and showcasing the best of the volleyball community. It also demonstrates how the World Championships are the pinnacle of a volleyball player’s resilience, skill and mental fortitude. The agility and grace of the sport and the intensity of this flagship competition are also reflected in the logos.
The colours of the logos and overall look and feel represent the host nations: red, white and blue for the men’s event in Russia and orange, red and white for the women’s edition in the Netherlands and Poland.
The event stripes are inspired by the panels of a volleyball, with each stripe representing an athlete moving, jumping and diving on the court .In addition, it reflects the extraordinary individual and team effort required to win a World Championship.
The World Championships patterns have also been revealed as secondary assets supporting the stripes in the event look and feel. The patterns are inspired by the sport and cultural elements associated with the host countries, including their history and tradition.
Additionally, the host city logos for the FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship in Russia have been revealed, showcasing the iconic sights of the 10 host cities and one reserved host city for the flagship event. These were developed by the Local Organising Committee in collaboration with the FIVB.
Following the launch, FIVB President Dr Ary S Graça F° said:
“The FIVB Volleyball World Championships is the most prestigious international volleyball event. Together with the organisers, we are very excited to reach such an important milestone for our competition. The newly launched brand identity for the event represents the very best of volleyball: its passion, strength and the incredible performances of our athletes. This unique combination makes the 2022 World Championships’ brand truly dynamic and will help inspire millions of fans worldwide.”
The logos and brand identity were developed by the FIVB in collaboration with WPP’s Landor, a global leader in brand consulting and design.
