Bangkok, Thailand, March 16, 2021 – Favorites Beijing and Jiangsu both won in the opening round of the 2020-21 season of the Chinese Men’s Volleyball League in Qinhuangdao on Monday.
Foreign player Uros Kovacevic scored a game-high 18 points to help Beijing smash Hubei 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-15). Jiang Chuan added 17 points. Zhang Enqi is the only player getting double-digit for Hubei.
Jiangsu staged a lopsided 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-20) victory over Hebei. Jiangsu spikers Konstantin Cupkovic and Bojic Slobodan grabbed 28 points apiece.
With foreign players, Beijing and Jiangsu are considered strong challengers for defending champions Shanghai which compete with an all-Chinese squad.
Monday also saw Henan defeat Guangdong 3-0. The third set witnessed a remarkable high 33-31.
In other games, Zhejiang beat Liaoning 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-20), Sichuan overcame Fujian 3-2 (23-25, 25-20, 26-28, 29-27, 16-14), and Shandong defeated Tianjin 3-1 (26-24, 21-25, 25-16, 25-22).
