FIVB LEGAL COMMISSION PRIORITISES CREDIBILITY AND GOOD GOVERNANCE

Commission holds its annual meeting in hybrid format.

The FIVB Legal Commission held its annual meeting this week with the Commission prioritising FIVB’s credibility, transparency and good governance in its work.

The meeting was held in a hybrid format with the Commission President Rogerio Oliveira and Secretary Alain Fischbacher joining from the FIVB Headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland and the remaining members joining online.

The Commission listened to the annual report of the FIVB Legal and Transfers Department which outlined the major work streams and achievements in 2022. A number of other important topics was also raised, including a review of the updates to the various FIVB Regulations and the review of the recently approved CAVB Constitution.

Opening the Commission meeting, the FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° said:

“Credibility, transparency and good governance are our top priorities, and we count on our FIVB Legal Commission to assist us in ensuring that the best legal practices are implemented in our day-to-day work.

“I am extremely proud that our commitment to good governance and transparency has been recognised in the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) Fourth Review of International Federation Governance with an increase of 25 points since the last assessment. The FIVB has now moved from group B to A2, the second highest group. But we know that there is more we can and will do.”

The FIVB Commission meetings will proceed this week with the Medical Commission on 13 December and the Rules of the Game and Refereeing Commission on 14 December.
