FIVB REPS VISIT DEVELOPMENT CENTER IN THAILAND WITH A SPECIAL FOCUS ON SPORTS DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS PLATFORM

Bangkok, Thailand, May 21, 2019 – Mr Steve Tutton, Head of Technical and Sports Development Department, and TSDD Manager Mr Hitesh Malhotra visited the FIVB Development Centre in Thailand to talk about the FIVB Development Projects Platform and the FIVB’s policy on development assistance and supports for AVC’s affiliated National Federations.

AVC Secretary-General Mr Shanrit Wongprasert, Mr Jaksuwan Tocharoen, Secretary-General of Thailand Volleyball Association, and Mr Issara Riddhisinha joined the discussion with representatives from the FIVB Sports Development Department. Brazilian Maria Rejane, who has come to coach the Thailand beach volleyball squad for one year as a result of the above-mentioned FIVB development assistance (Coaching Support for Technical & Tactical Development of National Teams), was also in attendance.

Mr Shanrit explained that the FIVB Development Projects Platform is an annual program established to support National Federations through an open application process to get the right support from the FIVB for improving the performance of national teams as well as fostering the growth of volleyball and beach volleyball and supporting equipments required by affiliated National Federations.

“Mr Steve Tutton and Mr Hitesh Malhotra paid a visit to the FIVB Development Centre Thailand and during a discussion with us, they made it clear all matters about the Projects Platform. They clarified all doubts and explained a few more details we would like to understand clearly,” Mr Shanrit said.

According to the AVC Secretary-General, the Coaching Support for Technical and Tactical Development of National Teams is to provide quality coach to deliver services to improve the performance of national teams for both indoor and beach volleyball and players in international competitions, while the Volleyball Equipment Support is to provide volleyball equipment using key FIVB partners to allocate VIK to National Federations to encourage the growth and participation levels in volleyball.

“All National Federations affiliated with the AVC are eligible to apply online from June 1 to July 15, 2019 for the FIVB Development Projects Platform support. The FIVB Development Commission will take all proposals from requested National Federations for further consideration and approval,” he added.
