FIVB UPDATES VARIOUS REGULATIONS

Lausanne, Switzerland, November 13, 2020 – The FIVB has updated its Sports Regulations, Disciplinary Regulations, Event Regulations and also uploaded a new regulation, the FIVB Code of Ethics, on the FIVB website after the revisions were approved by the FIVB Board of Administration on November 2 and 3, 2020.

In particular, several major changes to the FIVB Sports Regulations were approved by the Board of Administration. This includes the provisions relating to the Federation of Origin, which now provide an age in which the Federation of Origin will be determined, along with clarity on what is meant as a first registration. In addition, the Board of Administration approved revised provisions related to gender eligibility for international competitions, substantial changes to the FIVB transfer system (which will be specified separately) and changes to the FIVB’s power to enforce decisions related to financial disputes.

Three major changes to the FIVB Disciplinary Regulations were also approved. Firstly, the FIVB Board of Administration approved a new separate regulation, the FIVB Code of Ethics. Previously, provisions related to ethical matters were incorporated into the FIVB Disciplinary Regulations. Additional changes to the FIVB Disciplinary Regulations were also made in preparation for the new World Anti-Doping Code, which will come into effect on January 1, 2021, and to codify violations related to the FIVB’s safeguarding policy. A few minor changes to the FIVB Event Regulations were also approved.

Both the clean and tracked change (demonstrating the changes) versions are available here https://www.fivb.com/en/thefivb/legal.
