Tehran, Iran, October 4, 2022 – The first edition of Iran Women’s Beach Volleyball Open Tour took place on the site of Iran Volleyball Federation venue here from October 1-3, 2022.
Twenty-four teams across the country participated in this Open Tour. The teams were divided into eight groups. They were Pool A (Hormozgan 2, Tehran 3, East Azerbaijan), Pool B ( Fars, Semnan, Khorasan Razavi 2), Pool C (Anzali 1, Tehran 2, Khorasan Shomali), Pool D (Mazandaran 1, Anzali 2, Zanjan 1), Pool E (Zanjan 2, Khorasan Razavi 1, Tehran 1), Pool F (Golestan, Qeshm 1, Bushehr), Pool G (Guilan 2, Qeshm 2, Mazandaran 2) and Pool H (Hormozgan 1, Guilan 1, Esfahan) competing into two venues.
Mazandaran 1 claimed the gold medal while Golestan and Hormozgan were placed respective second and third.
IRIVF President Mohammad Reza Davarzani and Vice President Fariba Mohammadian were closely watching the matches, with Ms Maryam Kazemipour, the Sport and Youth Deputy Minister in Women’s Sport Development, in attendance as special guest.
Kazemipour said: “With 24 teams in the very first edition, it demonstrates a bright future for women’s volleyball in Iran. This predicts a great success and fortune for this type of sport in the upcoming future. We hope that these competitions will promote interest and motivation in the whole society”.
