JAKARTA BHAYANGKARA THROUGH TO 2023 ASIAN MEN’S CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SEMIFINALS AFTER 3-0 DEMOLITION OF BAYANKHONGOR

Manama, Bahrain, May 18, 2023 – In-form Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi demolished Bayankhongor Crownd Geo VC in convincing straight sets 25-19, 25-15, 25-14 to advance to the semifinals of the 2023 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship at Issa Bin Rashid Hall 1 on Thursday.

Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi of Indonesia entered the court confidently on Thursday following their back-to-back victories in the last two matches against Korean Air Jumbos Pro-Volleyball Club and Canberra Heat from Australia.

Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi and Bayankhongor Crownd Geo VC were determined to win this match and enhance their chances of advancing to the semifinals which saw both sides start the match with confidence. However, the Indonesians took better steps by capitalizing on the service faults of the Mongolians and brushed them off mightily in all three sets.

Finishing the preliminary round 2-1 overall, Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi advanced to the quarterfinals as top of Pool A. More importantly, following the crucial victory over Bayankhongor on Thursday, Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi became the Indonesia’s second club in history to make it to the semifinals of the Asian Men’s Club Championship.

In the 2006 edition in Vietnam, Jakarta BNI Talus became the Indonesia’s first club ever to advance to the top four teams and they picked up bronze medal after edging past Thailand’s Army 3-2 in third-place playoff clash at that time.

In this match, Farhan Halim scored a match-high 20 points for Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi while Ugandan Daudi Okello and Iranian Mohammad Javad Manavinezhad contributed with 13 and 12 points respectively. Batsuuri Battur and Bayarsaikhan Batsukh bagged 7 points apiece on Bayankhongor’s losing effort.

On Friday, Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi are due to take on Japan’s Suntory Sunbirds in the other quarterfinal encounter, a match which will decide a one-two finish in the quarterfinals Pool E. Suntory Sunbirds, contesting their quarterfinal match against Korean Air Jumbos Pro-Volleyball Club on the second hall, had already powered past the Korean side in straight sets on Thursday. Korean Air Jumbos Pro-Volleyball Club will take on Bayankhongor Crownd Geo VC on Friday.
