Tehran, Iran, March 9, 2021 – Following the bi-lateral meeting with head coaches of two teams in the final battle, the Events Committee of Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation announced match schedule in the final round of the Iran Men’s Volleyball Super League.
The Super League, the Iran’s top-flight professional league, has eventually reached the final round after 200 matches of the preliminary, playoff, and semifinal rounds.
Sirjan Foulad and Urmia Shahrdari advanced to the final round, which is due to be held at the Federation Hall from March 12 and March 14.
Sirjan Foulad, the fourth-ranked team of the table in the preliminaries, won both away and home matches in straight sets in the semifinals against Sepahan Foulad on March 5 and March 7, while the other semifinal encounter saw Urmia Shahrdari, the second-ranked side after the preliminary round, capture 3-2 victories in both matches against Amol Haraz Labaniat.
According to the format of play in the final round, the two finalists have to contest home-and-away matches. To capture the Super League laurels, the team must win both matches. However, if both teams share one win apiece, the third match will be held on March 16 to decide the eventual winners.
Following the request of Haraz Amol and Sepahan Foulad, the teams to contest the classification round in the third-place playoff, the Events Committee decided to offer the shared third place to both teams. The decision has been made to avoid unexpected injuries of the national players in both teams to ensure their readiness for international competitions.
