Manama, Bahrain, May 15, 2023 – Police Sports Team of Qatar sent Kuwait Sporting Club packing in convincing straight sets 25-17, 25-14, 25-14 in their Pool D clash of the 2023 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship at Issa Bin Rashed Hall 1 on Monday.
In-form Police Sports Team, which overcame Atyrau VC of Kazakhstan 3-1 in their opening match on Sunday, proved a class above Kuwait Sporting Club to record their second win in the topflight competition and keep their quarterfinals hopes alive.
Petar Dirlic and Efe Bayram chipped in with 13 and 10 points respectively for Police Sports Team, while Salem Alsuwaid Mohammad led Kuwait Sporting Club with 8 points.
The Police Sports Team started very well, with Nabel Abunabot, and Efe Bayram coming up with impressive offensive combinations. Kuwait Sporting Club tried to reduce the gap after trailing 10-16 but the Police Sports Team did not allow them as the Qataris outfit attacked effectively, while the Kuwaitis’ unforced attacking mistakes caused them dear. The Police Sports Team wrapped up the first set 25-17.
In the second set, both sides tried their best using all they had to win the set, but the Police Sports Team came into the set full of confidence and stayed in front by wide margin 16-8. Despite the determined efforts from the rivals, the Police Sports Team played cool, never looking back from there to capture the set 25-14.
Both sides started with almost the same level in the third set as the score was tied at 7-7 before the Qataris broke away netting some crucial points from their exceptional spikes. The Police Sports Team advanced 17-9, stretched it to 20-12 and allowed the rivals only two more points to win the third set 25-14 and match.
