PRACTICAL TRAINING SESSION CONDUCTED AT MIDWAY OF AVC BEACH VOLLEYBALL INTERNATIONAL REFEREE CANDIDATE COURSE IN THAILAND

Bangkok, Thailand, July 28, 2022 – After the first three days of lectures on basic knowledge of the official beach volleyball rules and regulations, refereeing guidelines, beach volleyball protocols and any documentation required, the AVC Beach Volleyball International Referee Candidate Course now under way at Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University in Pathum Thani effectively kicked off its practical training part on Thursday.

After actively participating in opening ceremony on July 25, with Thailand Volleyball Association President Mr Somporn Chaibangyang, Mr Shanrit Wongprasert, Honorary Life Vice President and Executive Director of AVC, and Asst Prof Supot Saikaew, President of Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University, jointly presiding, the 23 candidates from 12 countries including Japan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Vietnam, Iran and Indonesia underwent the theoretical lectures, which remained an invaluable tool for building their knowledge ahead of the practical part.

On Thursday, under the close supervision of AVC Beach Volleyball Instructor Ms Mariko Satomi from Japan as Course Director and under the guidelines of AVC Beach Volleyball Director Mr Kritsada Panaseri, the participants individually started their practice of officiating (1st, 2nd referee, scorer, assistant scorer and line judge).

To support for the practical session, the Thailand national women’s beach volleyball team led by Asian gold medallist Worapeerachayakorn Kongphopsarutawadee had been invited for demonstration match. All course attendants had a chance to understand beach volleyball rules, hand signals for officiating as well as scoring method and other requirements of beach volleyball refereeing.

In this session, the participants brought valuable knowledge from the lectures to use in real situations which resulted in the best on-sand opportunity with learning experience they had gained. Ms Mariko and Mr Kritsada gave all participants guidelines for individual officiating aside from making some refereeing assignments for them.

The one-week workshop continues at the varsity through Sunday when AVC certificates will be proudly presented to all course attendants.
