Perugia, Italy, June 11, 2019 – Russia won the first game of the opening day of pool 13 3-1 (25-23, 15-25, 25-20,25-17) against a Korea, who were unable to maintain their play level of the first two sets.
Kseniia Parubets topscored with 16 points for Russia while Korea’s scoring maker Kim Yeon Koung scored 17 points for the team .
Irina Voronkova, Russia: “It was important to win this game, we have to train more and think about this game for growing up for the next game, step by step we can make things better, I’m sure of this. We need to play together because we have new teammates so game after game we will do better.”
Stefano Lavarini, Korea coach: “In the first set we wasted all the good opportunities we had created, in the second we did better and Russia had some problems in reception. The third was the real pity of the game, we had started well with the right attitude, but when Russia come back we started to make mistakes, we must be able to work to give continuity to all the positive things we do. In the fourth, we were definitely down and they won. A real shame because we could have had the chance to win this match.”
