SHAHDAB YAZD TOO STRONG FOR KAM AIR VC

Manama, Bahrain, May 15, 2023 – Indomitable Shahdab Yazd proved a cut above Kam Air VC as the Iranians pulled out a sensational 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-18) win in their second match of Pool B in the 2023 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship at Issa Bin Rashed Hall 1 on Monday.

Shahdab Yazd, led by Mohammad Valizadeh and Mahdi Mahdavi, tried hard to tactically and technically show their superiority over the Kam Air VC. The superb duo exhibited heroic efforts as they used their incredible reach and leap to punish the lowered-ranked club of Afghanistan with some powerful spikes. Kam Air VC responded with fine attacks from talented Naser Kohistani, but their fightback was short-lived as the Iranians attacked relentlessly from all angles to win the first set 25-17.

Kam Air VC took command in the second set, with Malik Mamoozai carrying out terrific jump serves, allowing Shahdab Yazd difficulties to receive. However, the mighty Iranians found their rhythm, went on their aggression and resilience to level it at 20-20 before breaking away. Despite putting up a gallant fight, Kam Air VC found the strong Iranians uncatchable to go down 21-25.

The third set also went the Iranian way. As Shahdab Yazd surged ahead with a four-point advantage at 18-14, the Afghans tried to claw their way back into the game, but the Iranians pulled clear to take the set 25-18 and match.
