On March 21, “The Belt and Road·The Silk Road” Journey 2024 China International Snow Volleyball Invitational Tournament kicked off at Xinjiang Tianshan Tianchi Ski Resort. The event is hosted by China Volleyball Association, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Sports Bureau and Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture People’s Government.

A total of 10 teams, 5 teams apiece in men’s and women’s events, from France, Iran, Kazakhstan, Xinjiang (China), Neimenggu (China) and Ningxia (China) are competing in this event.

The tournament started with the pool phase in single round-robin format, followed by playoff in elimination format based on pool standing. The winners of playoff will play the gold medal finals on Sunday with the losers battling for the bronze medal.
On the first day of competition, Iran men’s team defeated France and China’s Inner Mongolia (Neimenggu) 2-0 for two consecutive victories. The China Team Xinjiang had a bye in the first round. In the second round, Xinjiang defeated France 2-0 to capture their first victory and Ningxia achieved a 2-0 win over Neimenggu.
After two rounds on the first day, Iran finished on top of the standing with two wins in two games in the men’s event, Ningxia and Xinjiang both had one victory against one loss, while the French and Inner Mongolia (Neimenggu) lost two games.
In the women’s event, Ningxia achieved a 2-0 win over Inner Mongolia (Neimenggu). Xinjiang 1 defeated Xinjiang 2 in the first round. In the second round, Xinjiang 2 defeated Inner Mongolia (Neimenggu), while Xinjiang 1 beat Kazakhstan 2-0, with two wins in two games to go atop the standing on the first day.
The tournament continues until Sunday, March 24 when the medalists will be decided.
