The Zonal General Assembly was held in Honolulu, Hawaii on 13-15 March 2024
· Hugh Graham stood unopposed and will serve his second term as President until 2028
· Terry Sasser (Marshall Islands) was also re-elected as the Zone’s Secretary General/Finance Director
· Three Vice Presidents were elected to the OZVA Board, Robert Graham (Cook Islands), Ronald Omoa (Papua New Guinea) and Herman Ada (Guam).
The Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC)’s Oceania Zonal Volleyball Association (OZVA) has re-elected unopposed Hugh Graham from the Cook Islands during its elective General Assembly held in Honolulu, Hawaii last week. He will serve his second term as President until 2028.
Terry Sasser of the Marshall Islands was re-elected as the Zone’s Secretary General/Finance Director during the Assembly.
Also elected to the OZVA Board were three Vice Presidents, Robert Graham (Cook Islands), Ronald Omoa (Papua New Guinea) and Herman Ada (Guam), and three members, Debbie Wooster (Vanuatu), Sam Montalvo (American Samoa), Hila Asanuma (Palau).
President Hugh Graham and Secretary General/Finance Director Terry Sasser were also elected to the AVC Executive office, alongside Craig Carracher of Australia.
In a ceremony during the General Assembly, FIVB certificates were awarded to Graham and Sasser for 12 years of service leading the OZVA.
In addition, several members of the Zonal Association received awards acknowledging their contributions to the development of volleyball in Oceania. These members were Morris Maitaki (Solomon Islands), Craig Carracher (Australia), Sam Montalvo (American Samoa) and Debbie Wooster (Vanuatu).
FIVB leadership attended the General Assembly, where they provided a presentation on the groundbreaking Volleyball Empowerment programme and encouraged all National Federations (NF) of OZVA to apply for support.
Immediately after the General Assembly, the OZVA Board met, where a number of matters were discussed. In what will be a groundbreaking first for a FIVB Zonal Association, a recommendation from the Zone’s Gender Minority Chair, Ms Hila Asanuma involved the establishment of the Zones first-ever Women in Volleyball Commission.
