TURKEY THROUGH TO FINAL FOUR AFTER DRAMATIC WIN AGAINST KOREA

Turkey managed to overcome the pressure applied by Korea to claim a 3-1 win that sees them through to the Final Four of the 2021 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League in Rimini, Italy on Saturday.

Turkey struggled in the first two sets, but found their rhythm in the next two to pull off a thrilling 3-1 (25-23, 20-25, 25-17, 25-18) win against Korea.

Ebrar Karakurt scored a game-high 22 points for Turkey, with Eda Erdem Dundar and Meliha Ismailoglu adding 16 and 12 points respectively. Kim Yeon Koung led Korea with 12 points and Park Jeongah claimed 12.

Kore’s Park Eunjin said at the virtual Mixed Zone: “At the beginning of the sets we couldn’t serve properly, so we struggled with this element. Later on we started to serve stronger and we could get a right position to defend and thus we managed to win one set.”

Turkey’s Cansu Ozbay said: “We are very proud. It was an important victory for us. Now we will play in the Final Four, but the round robin is not over yet, as we have one more game together against Brazil. It was difficult to play against Korea, because they have many great players – it was a very tough game mentally and physically, but we did a good job and I am really proud of my team.
