TURKEY TO HOST FIVB U19 BEACH VOLLEYBALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2022

Future beach volleyball stars to compete for gold on 14-18 September

The FIVB has announced that the FIVB U19 Beach Volleyball World Championships 2022 will be held in Turkey from 14 to 18 September.

Dikili in the province of Izmir will this year host the key age group event which Turkey last hosted competition in 2009 in Alanya.

The previous edition of the U19 World Championships was staged in Phuket, Thailand in 2021 where France’s Téo Rotar and Arthur Canet (FRA) took gold in the men’s event to earn their first international podium. They had previously participated in seven World Tour events and two age-category European championships.

Meanwhile, in the women’s competition, the USA’s Megan Kraft and Delayne Maple dropped only one set in their journey to the top of the podium in just their second FIVB tournament as a pair.

The tournament has long been a showcase of future beach volleyball talent. Most recently, Eduarda ‘Duda’ Santos Lisboa won in 2013, 2014 and 2016 before progressing to the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour and gold at the Hamburg 2018 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Finals.
