UNBEATEN TIANJIN THROUGH TO KNOCKOUT STAGE IN CHINESE WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE

Jiangmen, China, December 1, 2021 – Defending champions Tianjin continued their unbeaten record and became the first team to reach the knockout stage of the 2021-22 Chinese Women’s Volleyball League as they claimed the fifth consecutive victory by dominating Hebei 3-0 on Wednesday.

Chinese international Wang Yizhu had 20 points and Zhang Shiqi added 14 to help Tianjin take their fifth straight win in the 14-team round-robin preliminaries 25-14, 25-19 and 25-18.

Earlier on Wednesday, Guangdong edged out Sichuan in four sets (25-27, 25-23, 26-24, 25-20) for their fourth consecutive victory.

Li Yao provided a game-high 23 points for Guangdong, while Tang Weidan and Miu Yiwen scored an identical 19 for Sichuan.

Also on Wednesday, Shandong beat Yunnan 3-1, Liaoning swept Fujian 3-1, Shanghai smashed Henan 3-0 and Jiangsu eased past Shenzhen 3-1.
