VOLLEYBALL FAMILY MOURNS DEATH OF PROF ZHU JIAMING

Bangkok, Thailand, February 20, 2020 – AVC and volleyball family are deeply saddened by the passing of former FIVB Coaches Commission Member Prof Zhu Jiaming, who died in Shanghai, China on Wednesday, February 19 at the age of 81 following a prolonged period of cancer.

A Member of the FIVB Coaches Commission and Chairman of the AVC Coaches Committee for years, Prof Zhu Jiaming had attended several volleyball competitions as Control Committee Chairman including the 2009 FIVB World Grand Prix Preliminaries Pool I in Bangkok. He was an example of conduct and hard work for the constant improvement of coaches in Asia and around the world.

He served as Vice President of China Volleyball Association and a Shanghai-based Zhu Jiaming Volleyball Club was named after him. Prof Zhu Jiaming was Chairman of the AVC Coaches Committee during the reign of AVC Presidents Mr Yuan Weimin and Dr Saleh A. Bin Nasser, but resigned from his position for health reasons while working in 2013 under AVC President Dr Saleh A. Bin Nasser.

He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him and worked closely with him. He will also be remembered by volleyball family for all his hard work and devotion. Thoughts and prayers are with Prof Zhu Jiaming’s family and friends on this very sad day for the sport.
