Bangkok, Thailand, October 14, 2019 – Twenty-two potential coaches and candidates from six countries attended the FIVB Beach Volleyball Coaches Course from October 14 to 18, 2019 at the FIVB Development Centre in Bangkok, Thailand, with FIVB Course Instructor Mr David Hynd Smith conducting the course theoretically and practically.

Mr Somporn Chaibangyang, President of Thailand Volleyball Association, presided over the opening ceremony at the DC on Monday, with AVC Secretary-General Mr Shanrit Wongprasert and Mr Chai Nimakorn, Director of the FIVB DC Thailand, in attendance as guests of honour.

The 22 course attendants consist of two apiece from Kenya and Maldives, one each from Laos, Malaysia and Norway, 14 Thais and one Maldivian observer.

“It’s my great pleasure and honor to preside over the opening of the FIVB Beach Volleyball Coaches Course at FIVB Development Center here and I would like to extend my warmest welcome to FIVB Course Instructor Mr David Hynd Smith and all participants. I sincerely wish all of you a great success in the course and a very happy and pleasant stay in Bangkok during the course,” said Mr Somporn in his welcome speech during the opening ceremony.

In his speech, Mr David Hynd Smith thanked the organisers and TVA in particular for their kind supports.

“On behalf of FIVB, I would like to express my sincere thanks for supports from TVA, FIVB Development Centre in Thailand and AVC. Without them, this course cannot be held here. I would like to say that one of the most important things that you can learn from this course is friendship. It is a very important part of this course and I hope that at the end of the course, beside learning something about beach volleyball, you can bring with you good memory of making new friends and friendship.”

The FIVB Beach Volleyball Coaches Course being held in Bangkok plays an important role in line with the FIVB’s efforts of growing the sports of volleyball and beach volleyball worldwide, focussing on the improvement of coaching development and education and providing more opportunities to coaches to increase their knowledge of the latest technical and tactical coaching methods.
