Tehran, Iran, May 18, 2022 – Powerful Amin Esmaeilnezhad methodically tore the Iraqi defence into shreds with his exceptional attacks as Shahdab Yazd swept South Gas in thrilling straight sets 25-22, 25-19, 25-18 to reach the semifinals of the 2022 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship at Azadi Hall on Wednesday.
Against South Gas Sports Club, Shahdab Yazd excelled in defence and had good teamwork, with their spectacular attacks overcoming the tough rivals’ solid blocks. Struggling to win the first two sets 25-22, 25-19, Shahdab Yazd went on their fine form to win the comfortable third set 25-18.
During the match, Shahdab Yazd showed tremendous courage and defensive resilience, proving their superiority over the opponents by grabbing 48 attack hits against South Gas’s 27 aside from claiming 7 block points against the rivals’ 5.
Amin Esmaeilnezhad was the driving force for Shahdab Yazd, scoring fantastic 15 attack points to complement setter Mahdi Mahdavi’s output, while Aleksei Karpenko led South Gas Sports Club with 13 points.
