Bangkok, Thailand, November 1, 2020 – His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatar Olympic Committee, presented Al-Arabi the Amir Volleyball Cup title for the 2019-2020 season following their hard-fought five-set win against Police in the final showdown at the “QVA Hall on Saturday evening, volleyball.qa reported.
The match witnessed a large presence by high-ranked officials of the QOC, as it was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Saud bin Ali Al Thani, First Vice President of the Committee, and His Excellency Mr. Jassim Rashid Al Buainain, Secretary General of the Committee, as well as officials of the Qatar Volleyball Federation led by its President Mr. Ali bin Ghanem Al Kuwari.
The showdown was tightly-contested by both sides as Al-Arabi won the first set 25-17 before Police staged a strong comeback to take the second and third sets 25-23 and 25-23.
In the fourth set, the preference was in favour of Al-Arabi, which managed to win it 25-17 to extend the match to five sets.
Al-Arabi and Police came out in full force in an effort of taking the decider. Both sides took turns leading before Al-Arabi salvaged to a 14-14 tie. The encounter was closely-contested till the end, as Al-Arabi captured the last two points for the eventual 23-21 win in the set and match.
