Bangkok, Thailand, September 28, 2020 – Al-Arabi secured the third Qatar National Men’s Volleyball Championship of the 2019-2020 season following a dramatic five-set victory in the Sunday’s final, Qatar Volleyball Association announced in a news release on its official website volleyball.qa.
Al-Arabi edged past Police SC in a hard-fought five-set thriller 27-25, 25-21, 17-25, 23-25, 15-13 in the showdown that took place at QVA Hall.
After the match, President of Qatar Volleyball Association and member of the Executive Office of the Arab and Asian Associations, Mr Ali bin Ghanem Al Kuwari, presented the eventual winners Al-Arabi with the Championship Cup and gold medals, while QVA Secretary General Mr Yousef Ahmed Kanoo gave away silver medals to second-place Police SC.
Mr Ali bin Ghanem Al-Kuwari congratulated Al-Arabi on their significant success in the third edition of the National Men’s Volleyball Championship, praising the performance and high levels of Al-Arabi and Police SC players in the match, which has confirmed the remarkable development of Qatari volleyball.
Mr Ali said in a press statement that the championship is a good opportunity for players to test themselves in order to raise the level of their technical performance. This will also help provide them an opportunity for contact and development, considering that the championship is greatly beneficial to all clubs.
He added that the final match of the National Championship has made an obvious sign of the very resumption of excitement after the suspension of sports activities as a result of the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Expectation on an increase of excitement and competitions has also run high in the final round of the Volleyball League.
