AUSTRALIAN VOLLEYBALL ACADEMY APPOINTS JAN LEGG AS STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH

Bangkok, Thailand, November 2, 2020 – Volleyball Australia (VA) is thrilled to announce the appointment of Jan Legg to the role of Strength and Conditioning Coach at the Australian Volleyball Academy (AVA), Volleyball Australia reported on volleyballaustralia.org.au on Monday.

“Volleyball Australia, and particularly the AVA athletes, are fortunate to have attracted Jan to this role”, said VA CEO Andrew Dee.

“Jan’s reputation is outstanding and the experience she brings to the role from her work with the Opals, one of Australia’s most successful national teams, will be invaluable in developing the next generation of our athletes to be the best in the world”.

“I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to work with Volleyball Australia and the AVA program”, reflected Jan on her new role. “It is awesome to work with a program that brings so many talented athletes together to work towards the goal of representing Australia”.

Jan brings over 14 years of full-time experience as a Strength and Conditioning Coach in a high-performance environment with her to the AVA. The skilled coach has worked at the Australian Institute of Sport for over 12 years, gaining invaluable knowledge in a variety of Olympic sports. Jan most recently worked with the Australian Women’s Basketball team (the Opals) and the identified junior talent program at the Centre of Excellence as the National Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach.

In addition to her years of experience, Jan also holds her Level three certificate in Strength and Conditioning coaching from the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA), and in 2017 she completed a Masters of Sport Science (Research).

“Coming from seven years as the National Lead S&C coach for The Australian Women’s Basketball Team (The Opals – World Championships silver medallists 2018) and with 12 years at the Australian Institute of Sport behind her, Jan brings a level of expertise commensurate with international high-performance success”.

The primary objective of the Australian Volleyball Academy (AVA) is to identify and develop Olympic potential athletes for Volleyball and Beach Volleyball. It is the High-Performance Development Program for volleyball and beach volleyball athletes who aspire to reach the elite level of their sport.
