AVC REFEREES COMMITTEE REVIEWS WORK DONE AND TASKS IN PROGRESS

Bangkok, Thailand, February 1, 2024 – The AVC Referees Committee met at Golden Tulip Sovereign Hotel Bangkok on Thursday to review all relevant matters concerning refereeing activities and keep Members more engaged at work and new challenges.

AVC RC Chairman Mr Songsak Chareonpong from Thailand, himself Member of FIVB Rules of the Game and Refereeing Commission, chaired the Thursday’s meeting, joined by Mr Takashi Shimoyama from Japan (Secretary), Mr Dean E. Turner from Australia, Mr Chang Chin Jong from Chinese Taipei, Mr Wang Ning from China, Mr Beny Coonghe from India, Mr Mohammad Shamiri from Iran and Mr Samuel Montalvo from American Samoa, with Mr Jeerachai Kasemsook from Thailand, who had been in charge of Referee Delegate and Referee Sub-Committee Member in several AVC Championships, invited to join the meeting. Some other Members attended the meeting on Zoom.

Prior to the meeting, a welcome address was delivered by AVC President Mrs Rita Subowo, accompanied by AVC Secretary General Mr Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai.

She first expressed her sincere thanks for kind cooperation of AVC Headquarters staff and special assistance from Thailand Volleyball Association under the leadership of Mr Somporn Chaibangyang, citing that whenever an activity is held in Thailand, both AVC Headquarters in Bangkok and TVA are always there with good collaboration to make things well done.

“First of all, I would like to welcome all of you both here and online for attending the AVC Referees Committee Meeting.

In carrying out our activities at every level, AVC has had excellent collaboration and support from all of its members and National Federations. I do expect to have your continued excellent collaboration and support for the activities in the near future,” she started.

“The AVC Referees Committee Meeting is a significant meeting. By joining the AVC Referees Committee Meeting, all Members can assist AVC in gaining knowledge and discussing current and new game regulations to ensure fairness in volleyball and beach volleyball matches. You will be one of important keys to present the beauty of fairness in our AVC events. Thus, feel free to provide any feedback or suggestions during today’s meeting.

“Last but not least, I sincerely extend my gratitude for your kind attendance in this annual meeting. I appreciate your kind cooperation to make our meeting run successfully. I wish all of you a heathy stay and see you in the next meeting,” she added.

 

After that, the meeting acknowledged the Minutes of the previous AVC RC Meeting on February 15, 2023 and the information of 46th AVC Board of Administration Meeting on June 17, 2023 apart from hearing the AVC RC Annual Report to FIVB Rules of the Game and Refereeing Commission for 2023 (volleyball and beach volleyball) and AVC Referee Coach Reports for 2023 AVC events.

During the meeting, reports of AVC Refereeing Courses in 2023 had also been reported which included AIRCC Volleyball in Taichung, Chinese Taipei from March 6-12, AIRCC Volleyball in Baghdad, Iraq during May 1 and 7, while two courses were postponed to 2024 consisting of AIRCC Volleyball in Sri Lanka due to be held from November 13 to 19 and AIRCC Beach Volleyball in Bangladesh between August 31 and September 6.

After that, Mr Songsak shared information from the FIVB Rules of the Game and Refereeing Commission Meeting, which came to a close on Wednesday. Key topics discussed in the RGC Meeting included Draft 2024 Volleyball Referee Categorization and Draft of FIVB Referee Coaches VB & BVB 2024, Challenge Referees list – VB & BVB 2024.

it was also informed that three AVC Refereeing Courses are due to be held in 2024 comprising AIRCC Volleyball in Oman from January 24 to 30, AIRCC Volleyball in Tehran, Iran during April 20 and 27 and AIRCC Volleyball in Bangkok, Thailand from June 5 to 11.

Meanwhile, proposals to be submitted to 2024 AVC Board of Administration Meeting for approval are as follows.

  1. To approve list of 2023 AIRCC in Taichung, Chinese Taipei from March 6 to 12
  2. To approve list of 2023 AIRCC IN Baghdad, Iraq from May 1 to 7
  3. To approve list of Asian Volleyball Candidate Referee to be Asian International Referee for 2023
  4. To approve list of Asian BVB Candidate Referee Completed Assessments for Two Events with Two different Years to be Asian International Referee for 2023
  5. To approve AIRCC Volleyball in Sohar City, Oman from January 24 to 30, 2024
  6. To approve AIRCC Volleyball in Iran during April 20 and 27, 2024
  7. To approve AIRCC Volleyball in Bangkok, Thailand between June 5 and 11, 2024

The meeting was also informed of the AVC Template to be used for AVC in 2024 which comprised Referee assignment R3 (with challenge referee), Statistics of Referees & Evaluation Template, AVC Referee Coach Report Template (to be used for both AVC and Zonal), FIVB Refereeing Evaluation Form (R4), AVC Candidate Referee Qualified Match Template (for both AVC and Zonal), AVC Refereeing Course/Seminar/Refresher Forms, AVC Refereeing Course/Seminar/Refresher Report Template and AVC RC Member Activity Report.

Draft of AVC Competition Calendar for Volleyball and Beach Volleyball was also raised for further discussions.
