FIVB CELEBRATES PLAY TRUE DAY

Lausanne, Switzerland, April 10, 2019 – To show its commitment to promoting clean sport and fair competition the FIVB is again celebrating Play True Day on April 10.

The movement has gained momentum since April 10 was declared Play True Day in 2014. Originally initiated by countries in South America, Play True Day continues to raise awareness about the fight against doping with new countries and organisations joining the campaign every year.

The FIVB, through its http://playclean.fivb.com/Home/Cultures continues to educate players on anti-doping matters and organises outreach programmes and campaigns as part of its commitment to promoting clean sport and clean athletes. The FIVB Play Clean online educational programme for athletes and support personnel is now available in seven languages – English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian.

Anti-doping outreach activities were also organised at the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship in Italy and Bulgaria and at the Japan 2018 Women’s World Championship, in collaboration with the national anti-doping agencies and as part of the FIVB’s commitment to education and prevention. The outreach activities were designed to help the world’s leading players and their support staff develop their understanding of anti-doping regulations and underline their responsibilities as sporting role models.
