Bangkok, Thailand, June 22, 2021 – A total of 38 local coaches, teachers and former national players have attended the FIVB Coaches Course Level-1 at Riyadh Leaders Training Centre in Saudi Arabia, with FIVB Instructor Mr Shihab Aldin Ahmed conducting the six-day course.

Saudi Arabian Volleyball Federation in conjunction with Abu Riyadh Leaders Training Centre is currently organising the June 20-25 course, with Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee (SAOC) providing all healthy conditions and security requirements for conducting this course during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Shihab Aldin Ahmed, the AVC Coaches Committee Member from Sultanate of Oman who has inspired many national coaches programs and supervised a lot of international courses worldwide, is Course Director, assisted by National Instructor Mr Khalid Ammar.

Participating in the course are all 38 males including former national players, physical education teachers and coaches from local schools, universities and clubs as well as a number of local and overseas senior national team players who competed for military team in international tournaments.

Dr Khaled Mansour Al-Zughaibi, President of Saudi Arabian Volleyball Federation, said in his speech during the opening ceremony on June 20, “I would like to extend my sincere gratitude and appreciation to FIVB President Dr Ary Graca and FIVB Development Department for their trustful supports in conducting Coaches Course Level-I. Also, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome FIVB Course Director Mr Shihab Aldin Ahmed from Oman, who has a great experience in volleyball coaching programs.

“Saudi Arabian Volleyball Federation is looking to increase the number of qualified coaches through FIVB Coaches Courses in coming future . It is the first time that this course has been applied online in Saudi Arabia and definitely this kind of course should be great and worthy in improving Coaches’ understanding of the sport while building on the fundamentals of Saudi Arabian volleyball.”

Course Director Shihab Ahmed expressed his gratitude to FIVB Development Department and Saudi Arabian Volleyball Federation in conducting Coaches Course online during this pandemic .

“It is an essential step in building up coaches’ knowledge and upgrading their brain in sports science,” he said.

He also explained a brief overview about this course which has been split to practical sessions, featuring many fundamental and core subjects in volleyball, coaching skills, physical conditioning and basics of Mini volleyball and updates on training information.
