FIVB PRESIDENT MEETS WITH MIKASA PRESIDENT DURING TOKYO 2020

Mikasa has been a partner of volleyball for almost 60 years

FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° yesterday met with the President of Mikasa and FIVB Board of Administration member, Mr Yuji Saeki, during the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 to discuss the overall business objectives of the company and Mikasa’s strong partnership with volleyball.

During the meeting, Mr Saeki was accompanied by the new Executive Officer, Sr General Manager of Mikasa, Mr Hidekazu Iizuka, responsible for the Sales and Marketing activities of the corporation. The FIVB President was joined by FIVB General Director Mr Fabio Azevedo and Volleyball World Chairman Mr Fernando Lima.

The long-term partners discussed a number of important topics including the innovative partnership between the FIVB and CVC Capital Partners and the subsequent launch of Volleyball World. The parties also discussed the FIVB President’s vision of developing the sport all over the world via Volleyball Empowerment by exploring more markets for volleyball on a global level.

Following the meeting, the FIVB President said:

“As always, it was a pleasure to meet with Mr Saeki. Mikasa has been a loyal friend and partner to the global Volleyball Family for many years, and we have a very strong relationship. As of 2021, Mr Saeki joined the FIVB Board of Administration as a member with full voting rights. I am sure that his experience, expertise and professionalism will continue to help the development of our beloved sport worldwide.

“During the meeting, both Mr Saeki and I agreed how fantastic it is that volleyball has returned to its Olympic birthplace, where it is clear to see just how much volleyball players and volleyball equipment have developed since Tokyo 1964.”

The FIVB has enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with Mikasa for almost 60 years, with the sporting goods manufacturer having supplied equipment since volleyball was first included on the Olympic Programme at Tokyo 1964.
