FIVB PRESIDENT’S VISIT TO INDONESIA DRAWS SIGNIFICANT MEDIA COVERAGE, SHOWCASES INDONESIA’S PASSION FOR VOLLEYBALL

Millions of passionate Indonesian volleyball fans delighted by FIVB’s commitment to the sport’s development in the country

FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F°’s week-long visit to Indonesia to explore with various stakeholders ways to ensure the country reaches its huge volleyball potential drew significant media coverage, showcasing Indonesia’s passion for the sport.

During his first official visit to the country, the FIVB President met with a number of Indonesia’s key sports stakeholders, including the National Olympic Committee of Indonesia, the National Volleyball Federation of Indonesia, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, a leading media conglomerate, and various club owners and members of the volleyball community. He was also joined by Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) President Rita Subowo during various engagements.

Development was a key focus area during the FIVB President’s visit, as it has been since he was elected President in 2012. Under his leadership, the FIVB has built and launched world-leading development programmes, such as Volleyball Empowerment, to help empower national teams around the world and grow the sport in all corners of the globe. Throughout his visit, the FIVB President highlighted the FIVB’s readiness to support Indonesia in reaching its full potential in volleyball and building a long-term plan for the sport’s ongoing development.

The FIVB’s readiness to support Indonesia on its volleyball journey was highlighted by various media, including Tribun Network, whose online platform Tribunnews.com has a reach of 150 million Indonesians, over 50% of the population.

Ahead of the men’s final of the Proliga, the FIVB President held a press conference to discuss the success of the league and the ways in which it can be improved.

He added that the FIVB is ready to help develop Indonesian volleyball so that it can compete on the international stage beyond the Southeast Asian region.

“Indonesia has won many medals in Southeast Asia, it must be able to rise to the international level, Asian championships, the world to the Olympics,” said FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° during the press conference.

FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° also visited the Indonesian Volleyball Development Center in Sentul, Indonesia where he pledged his commitment to supporting the centre as part of a long-term plan to develop volleyball and beach volleyball in Indonesia. The Indonesian Volleyball Development Center was also named a Centre of Excellence and will receive annual support of 20,000 USD from the FIVB.
