HENAN TASTE FIRST WIN IN CHINESE WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE

Jiangmen, China, December 5, 2021 – Henan edged Beijing 3-0 to take their first win after five straight losses in Group B of the Chinese Women’s Volleyball League here on Saturday.

Thanks to 20 points from Han Wenya and 17 points from Cai Xiaoqing, Henan defeated Beijing 27-25, 25-23, 25-21. Jin Ye scored a game-high 22 points for Beijing, which failed to register a single victory this season.

Defending champions Tianjin remain unbeaten with a dominant 3-0 victory, putting an end to Guangdong’s five-game winning streak. Vargas Melissa scored 17 points for Tianjin, while Chen Peiyan contributed 14.

Shenzhen lost to Liaoning 3-1 despite winning the first set 25-23. Shenzhen’s Yang Wenjin and Boskovic Dajana scored 19 points apiece, while Sun Xiaoxuan of Guangdong was named MVP with a game-high 24 points.

Saturday’s games also saw Shandong trounce Hebei 3-0 (25-11, 25-10, 25-14), Zhejiang overcome Sichuan (27-25, 25-18, 25-18), and Jiangsu defeat Shanghai 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-18).
