KEY POSITIONS APPROVED DURING WEST ASIA VOLLEYBALL ASSOCIATION MEETING

Mr Ali bin Ghanem Al-Kuwari, President of the Qatar and West Asia Volleyball Association, himself Executive Zonal Vice President representing Western Zone and Member of the FIVB Beach Volleyball Commission, chaired the General Assembly of the West Asia Volleyball Association, which was held at the Sharq Hotel in Doha City on Saturday, December 4.

The meeting was attended by Dr Abdul Hadi Shabib Al-Mutairi, President of the Kuwaiti Volleyball Association, Dr Khalid bin Mansour Al-Zughaibi, President of the Saudi Arabian Volleyball Federation, Walid Shehadeh Al-kassouf, President of the Lebanese Volleyball Federation, Eng Ibrahim bin Abdullah Al-Muqbali, President of the Oman Volleyball Association, Hamza Mahmoud Radi, President of the Palestine Volleyball Association, Jamil Aziz, President of the Iraq Volleyball Federation, Mohsen Ahmed Saleh, President of the Yemen Volleyball Association, and Anas Sami Qabilat, Secretary General of the Jordan Volleyball Federation, Mufeed Elias Al-Shareet, Secretary General of the Syrian Arab Volleyball Federation, and Muhammad Salem Al-Kuwari, a member of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Volleyball Association.

The meeting was also attended as an observer by Abdulaziz Al-Baloul, Executive Vice President of Asian Volleyball Confederation, Youssef Ahmed Kanou, Secretary General of the Qatar Volleyball Association, and Mrs Sadah bint Saeed Al-Azari, member of the Oman Volleyball Association.

At the beginning of the meeting, Ali Al-Kuwari welcomed the attendees and wished them a pleasant stay in their second country, Qatar, and emphasized the depth of fraternal relations between the Arab federations.

Mr Ali Ghanim Al-Kuwari reviewed the recommendation of the President of the Asian Volleyball Confederation that it is necessary to activate the statute and bylaws of the federations of the Asian Volleyball Regions on December 5, and the minutes of the previous General Assembly meeting held last October were ratified and approved via video communication technology, and the agenda of the General Assembly was ratified. In addition to presenting and discussing the Union’s future policies, plans, objectives and programmes, the appointment of Mrs Sadah bint Saeed Al-Azari as Head of the Women’s Committee was approved.

During the meeting, the ratification and approval of the accreditation and nomination of: Eng. Ibrahim bin Abdullah Al-Muqbali, President of the Oman Volleyball Association, as Vice-President of the West Asia Volleyball Association, and Brigadier Jihad Qteishat, Vice President of the Jordan Volleyball Federation, as Vice President of the West Asia Volleyball Association. Mohammed Salem Al-Kuwari (Qatar) Secretary General of the West Asia Volleyball Association, and the ratification of the selection of the treasurer, Kuwaiti Dr Abdul Hadi Shabib Al-Mutairi, and Youssef Ahmed Kanou (Qatar), the Assistant Treasurer of the West Asia Volleyball Association.

Mr Muhammad Salem Al-Kuwari, a member of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Volleyball Association, expressed his optimism in the West Asia Volleyball Association headed by Mr Ali Ghanem Al-Kuwari, noting that there is an ambitious development plan targeting all the basic axes of the game, most notably: national teams, competitions, promising centers, competitions and others.
