LIAONING EDGE GUANGDONG IN CHINESE WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE

Bangkok, Thailand, December 5, 2020 – Determined Liaoning found Guangdong a tough nut to crack to beat the opponents in hard-fought five-set thriller 25-16, 21-25, 18-25, 25-19, 20-18 in the third stage of Chinese Women’s Volleyball League on Friday, xinhuanet.com reported

After a balanced start, Liaoning scored nine straight points to take the first set 25-16.

Guangdong bounced back mightily to claim the second set 25-21 and built up a 13-8 lead with a 5-0 run in the third before winning it 25-18.

The two teams were tied 2-2 after Liaoning nailed down the fourth set and forced the tiebreaker. Liaoning won the decisive fifth set with seven blocks to snatch the victory.

Six players of Liaoning adding double figures while Li Yao and Kelsey Robinson of Guangdong adding 27 and 24 respectively.

In Friday’s other action, Tianjin beat Zhejiang 3-0 (25-19, 25-10, 32-30), Sichuan overpowered Hebei 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-13), Yunnan overwhelmed Henan 3-0 (25-22, 25-12, 25-18, Jiangsu swept Shandong 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-16) and Shanghai overcame Beijing 3-1 (25-9, 25-16, 18-25, 25-18).
