Asian champions Iran struggled in a daunting clash against reigning Olympic champions Brazil to go down in dramatic four sets at the 2021 FIVB Men’s Volleyball Nations League in Rimini, Italy on Wednesday.

Iran, which the previous day were stunned 2-3 to Australia, the team they had beaten in straight sets in the 2019 Asian Championship final showdown in Tehran, recovered from the first set down 19-25 to beat the Brazilians 25-23 for an impressive 1-1 tie.

However, the mighty Brazil took control in the remaining two sets to power past the determined Iranians 25-19, 25-21 to win the 3-1 match.

With the victory, Brazil remained atop the 16-team standing with 29 points from 10 wins against one loss, while Iran had 18 points from 5 wins against 6 losses.
