REFEREES OFFICIATING AT 14TH ASIAN MEN’S U18 CHAMPIONSHIP ANNOUNCED

Tehran, Iran, August 14, 2022 – The 2022 Asian Men’s U18 Volleyball Championship is taking place in Tehran, Iran from August 15 to 22, serving as the Asian qualifying tournament from which the top four teams will secure berths for the 2023 FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U19 World Championship.

The eight accompanying referees have been nominated by AVC to officiate at the tournament under the guidance of Referee Delegate Mr Mohammad Shahmiri from Iran and Referee Sub-Committee Member Ibrahim Mohd Al-Naama from Qatar.

Having completed the theoretical phase of refereeing clinic in the morning, the referees attended the practical phase inside the court right after for the rehearsals.

“The young referees especially those candidates are to test their mettles to upgrade their levels. I do believe on investing and educating young players to enrich our refereeing community. For the age groups, it is very important to stick to the rule to teach everyone the right guidelines as they need to get ready for the future remembering their first experience”, Referee Delegate Mr Mohammad Shahmiri said.

“The referees are mostly young. They have to receive more instructions and gain more experience”, he added.
