Volleyball Australia is pleased to announce Joshua Slack has been appointed as the Queensland Academy of Sport Volleyball Head Coach.
Slack is a triple Olympian, having represented Australia in beach volleyball at the Sydney 2000, Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
Slack will lead Volleyball Australia’s development program based at the Queensland Academy of Sport, and will be an integral part of Volleyball Australia’s plans to invest in targeted and talented young athletes to help fast track their development towards the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games and beyond.
Having lived out his own Olympic dreams as an athlete, Slack is looking forward to working with the next generation of volleyballers to help them pursue theirs as a coach.
“I am honoured to be taking up this position with the Queensland Academy of Sport, the place where my Olympic dream first started,” Slack said.
“With the Olympic Games hosted down under in Brisbane 2032, it is exciting to be able to work closely with the next generation of stars to help them strive for greatness,” he said.
Volleyball Australia High Performance Director Craig Marshall said he looks forward to working closely with Slack on the volleyball program in Queensland.
“Josh’s knowledge of high performance practices, strategies, skills and culture, along with his experience as a successful national team beach volleyball athlete makes him the perfect fit to guide, inspire and enhance our future generation of Australia athletes based in Queensland,” Marshall said.
“I’m excited to welcome Josh to the team, and look forward to seeing what he can achieve,” he said.
Volleyball Australia National Pathways Manager Paul Smith said he is delighted to welcome Slack to the team.
“We’re very excited to welcome Josh into the Head Coach role at the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) program,” Smith said.
“His wealth of experience in high performance beach volleyball aligns perfectly with the goals of the QAS program and with Brisbane 2032 firmly in our focus, we’re confident that Josh can play a key role in helping to develop some of our future aspiring Olympians,” he said.
