VIETNAM SECURE SECOND WIN WITH 3-0 ON UZBEKISTAN

Gresik, East Java, Indonesia, June 19, 2023 – Vietnam secured the top spot in Pool D of the 2023 AVC Challenge Cup for Women after completing a sweep against Uzbekistan, 3-0 (25-11, 25-6, 25-18) on Monday evening at the Tri Dharma Petrokimia Gresik Gymnasium.

The Vietnamese side dominated in all fronts, converting with 43 attacks. 7 blocks and 9 service aces.

Opposite hitter Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh and captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy led the field with 11 points and 10 points respectively.

Difference and discrepancy in both technical skill and experience were evident with the teams, as Vietnam showed their advantage. Head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet fielded in his main unit on the floor, who showed no room for complacency. The Vietnamese side executed their plays with minimal miscues, giving away merely 6 points in error count.

By the time that the Vietnam team switched to the substitutes, they continued to display their dominance, posting a commendable attack efficiency across all hitters.

Uzbekistan were able to keep a higher score in the third set, as they banked on Askarova Zarnigora and Boymirzayeva Dilnoza. However, the momentum and overall quality of Vietnam shone through all the way for a sweep of the match as their second win in the competition.

Uzbekistan will play against Mongolia on Tuesday, at 16:30 local time. Pool D winners Vietnam now await their match-up from Pool B for the Classification matches on Wednesday.
