The rosters include returning stars like Russia’s Maxim Mikhaylov, who was named Most Valuable Player when he led his side to the title at the inaugural edition of the FIVB Volleyball Nations League in 2018. Last year’s world champions Poland are also well represented with familiar faces like libero Pawel Zatorski and middle blocker Piotr Nowakowski leading their team’s campaign this year.

Last year’s VNL Dream Teamers are also present including best setter Benjamin Toniutti (France) and best opposite Matt Anderson (USA) and are joined by other key performers like last year’s top scorer Wallace De Souza of Brazil.

Other players to look out for include Earvin Ngapeth from France, Iran captain Mir Saeid Marouflakrani, Simone Giannelli of Italy, and Aleksandar Atanasijevic of Serbia.

Some of the sport’s biggest names also feature for the first time after missing last year’s edition of the competition, including the likes of Thomas Edgar of Australia, Tsvetan Sokolov of Bulgaria, Serbia captain Nemanja Petric and Yoandy Leal of Brazil.

The Men’s VNL begins on May 31 with the preliminary rounds of the competition to be played Fridays to Sundays over five weeks. The top five teams at the end of the pool stages will join hosts USA at the VNL Men’s Finals in Chicago from July 10 to 14.

The current wide rosters including 30 players per team will be reduced to squads of 25 players by Tuesday, May 21.
