BANGKOK WORLD TOUR EVENT CANCELLED

Bangkok, Thailand, February 21, 2019 – The International Volleyball Federation confirms the cancellation of the Bangkok FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour event in April as a result of financial difficulties faced by the promoters.

Originally scheduled to take place from April 25 to 28, the 1-star event in Bangkok was one of three to take place in Thailand in 2019. Satun, Thailand will host a 1-star event from April 8 to 11 and the FIVB Beach Volleyball U21 World Championships will take place in Udon Thani from June 18 to 23.

The next event on the World Tour is a 2-star women’s stop in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from February 21 to 24. The Phnom Penh tournament is the first of four to take place in the Southeast Asian country in the 2018/2019 calendar with other events including stops in Kg Speu, Siem Reap and Battambang.

The 2018/2019 calendar began with tournaments in Siofok, Hungary and Montpellier, France in August 2018 and runs until the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Finals in Rome, Italy from September 4 to 8 and the FIVB Beach Volleyball Olympic Qualification Tournament in China from September 18 to 22.
