FIVB BEACH VOLLEYBALL U19 AND U21 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN THAILAND RESCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 2021

FIVB BEACH VOLLEYBALL U19 AND U21 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN THAILAND RESCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 2021

Both competitions will now be held in December 2021

The FIVB, event organiser and Thailand Volleyball Association have jointly decided to reschedule the FIVB Beach Volleyball U19 and U21 World Championships to December 3-8 and December 14-19, 2021 respectively in Roi Et, Thailand.

Originally scheduled for 14-19 September and 24-29 September, the decision to reschedule the events was taken in view of a recent rise in COVID-19 cases in Thailand and subsequent restrictions implemented by the Government of Thailand to mitigate risk. Meanwhile, extensive international travel restrictions remain in place in various parts of the world which have significantly impacted the travel arrangements for teams due to participate in the events. The decision was therefore taken to reschedule the events to ensure the health and wellbeing of athletes, officials and fans, which is the FIVB’s top priority.

The U19 and U21 World Championships will be organised back-to-back in the same venue to ensure a safe bubble is set up for all participating teams. The FIVB will continue to carefully monitor the situation in full cooperation with the World Health Organization and other international and national health and sports authorities.
