M. SHAHDAB YAZD PULL OFF CONFIDENT 3-0 VICTORY AGAINST ERBIL

Tehran, Iran, May 14, 2022 – M. Shahdab Yazd overpowered Iraq’s Erbil in a lopsided 3-0 win in their first match of Pool B in the 2022 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship at Azadi Hall on Saturday.

The first set saw Shahdab Yazd outclass Erbil by a wide margin as they were determined and willing to keep the pace and close the set 25-16, thanks to the monster blocks of Canadian John Gordon Perrin.

Erbil poured everything they had in the second set, hoping for a comeback, but things started to turn sour as they went down miserably 18-25 in spite of improvements they have displayed.

In the third set, Erbil gained the upper hand to take a 12-6 lead drowning the home fans in shock but Shahdab Yazd did not want to surrender easily and survived a scare to win 25-20.

The Iranian coach of Erbil, Mohammad Hossein Nejati said after the match, “I asked my players to open their eyes and do their best. I know this is the best chance for them to play at this level and that was always a dream for my players to play against Iranian top stars like Marouf.”

“This is a precious moment that we can play along with excellent world stars, thanks to the deep insight of Iranian teams that did their best to add quality to this tournament by employing world stars like Ngapeth, Nimir, and Perrin. They can add to the beauty of this tournament. We are satisfied with our today’s performance and will do our best day by day”, Mahdi Mahdavi, captain of Shahdab Yazd said after the match in the press conference.
