Bangkok, Thailand, June 12, 2019 – A sponsorship agreement between Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) and Mikasa, a Japanese sports equipment and athletic goods company with its international corporate headquarters located in Hiroshima, Japan, was signed on Wednesday during the 41st AVC Board of Administration Meeting at Dusit Princess Srinakarin Bangkok Hotel here.
Mr Yuji Saeki, President and CEO of Mikasa Corporation, and AVC President Dr Saleh A. Bin Nasser, jointly presided over the contract-signing ceremony, attended by AVC Board of Administration Members including FIVB and AVC Honorary Life President Mr Wei Jizhong, AVC Executive Vice Presidents Mrs Rita Subowo and Mr Essa Hamzah, AVC Secretary-General Mr Shanrit Wongprasert and Mr Daisuke Akiyama, Mikasa Corporate Officer General Manager, International Sales Department.
“We know how this company is supporting sports in the whole world and I think we, the AVC, are in a good way and lucky to have this kind of relation with Mikasa,” said Dr Saleh A. Bin Nasser in his speech during the signing ceremony.
“I feel appreciated to be here and have an opportunity to sign the contract between Mikasa and AVC. I hope that we can see the continued development of volleyball in Asia,” said Mr Yuji Saeki.
After that, AVC President Dr Saleh A. Bin Nasser and Mikasa President and CEO Mr Yuji Saeki signed and exchanged the contract, shook hands and had photo opportunities. In this auspicious occasion, Dr Saleh A. Bin Nasser presented an AVC Plaque to Mr Yuji Saeki.
The term of this signed sponsorship contract between Mikasa and the continent’s volleyball-governing body shall become effective from January 1, 2020 and on a fixed term of four years (2020-2023).
“According to the sponsorship deal, Mikasa will support AVC with US$150,000 per year plus equipments for all AVC Championships both indoor and beach volleyball competitions,” said AVC Secretary-General Mr Shanrit Wongprasert.
