Bangkok, Thailand, November 5, 2020 – The club teams under the auspices of the Qatar Volleyball Association comprising Police, Al-Arabi, Al-Rayyan, Al-Ahli, Qatar, Al-Wakrah, Al-Gharrafah, Al-Shamal, Al-Khor and Al-Sadd have been subjected to the new coronavirus (COVID-19) swabs on the players as well as technical and administrative teams at the QVA Hall, volleyball.qa reported on Thursday.
The swab testing was conducted according to precautionary measures and in cooperation with Ministry of Public Health and Aspitar Hospital as part of necessary arrangements for the club teams in preparation for their new season 2020-2021, which begins on Friday with the staging of the Senior Men`s Volleyball League matches.
At the same time, Board of Directors of the Qatar Volleyball Association on Wednesday evening held a meeting chaired by QVA President Mr. Ali Ghanem Al-Kuwari to discuss the latest preparation for the launch of the new season 2020-2021, which sees the men’s competitions begin on Friday.
The meeting was attended by Mr.Yousif Ahmed Kanoo, QVA Secretary General and his assistant Saeed Salem Al-Jamaani and Board members Mr.Mubarak Eid Al-Abdullah, Mr.Mohammad Salem Al-Kuwari and Mr. Hussein Imam, the QVA Technical expert.
During the meeting, many topics related to the new season were raised for discussion and reviewed administratively, technically and logistically.
Meanwhile, the Qatar Volleyball Association, with Mr. Ali bin Ghanem Al-Kuwari at the helm, has decided to cancel the Super Cup for the new season 2020-2021.
The cancellation came as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and also the busy schedule of the new season’s competition calendar.
