Under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and in cooperation with the Arab Producers Union of the League of Arab States, Mr Ali Ghanem Al-Kuwari, President of the Qatar and West Asian Volleyball Associations and AVC Executive Zonal Vice President representing Western Zone, was selected among the 100 best Arab personalities of the year 2023, for his tangible efforts to advance the game in the Arab, Asian and international levels, while during his reign, Qatar national men’s volleyball team was able to qualify for the 2025 Volleyball World Championship for the second time in a row.
Many important and historical achievements also occurred during his presidency of the Qatar Volleyball Association. Cherif Younousse/Ahmed Tijan, Qatar national beach volleyball players, achieved a historic bronze in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and continued to make an impact on the Beach Pro Tour. They advanced in the world rankings until they reached first place in the world.
The Qatar men’s volleyball team also made their mark in international competitions when they topped the podium in the 6th Asian Cup for Men in Taipei, Chinese Taipei apart from picking up silver medal in the FIVB Volleyball Challenge Cup and fourth place in the 18th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China,
In addition, the Qatar Volleyball Association for the first time in history won the Golden Union Award, which was awarded by the Qatar Olympic Committee headed by His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani. The achievements are still continuing, thanks to the sound vision of the QVA Board of Directors headed by Mr Ali bin Ghanem Al Kuwari and the best is yet to come.
The grand ceremony was attended by a number of honored stars, artists, media professionals, and athletes, which was held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on Wednesday evening at the Triumph Luxury Hotel.
